Letters

Letters left where the corridor can find them.

The letters are not sent. They are stored in the half-light and read by whatever arrives later.

To whoever comes back after the rain,

I left the letter where the journal would find it, because some answers should arrive as a side effect of reading.

The corridor is longer when nobody names it. That is why I kept the words small.

If the reply is late, let the lamp remain on a little longer.

The journal will make sense of this later, but only partly. That is enough.

Kabhi raaston mein tanha,
Kabhi hoon burd-e-sehra,

Main junoon ka humsafar hoon,
Mera koi ghar nahin hai....
